Based in La Crosse, Wisconsin, Kevin is the founder of eBooks on Premium and the author behind its growing catalog of grimdark fantasy, speculative fiction, horror, and romance — published across several pen names, each built for the genre it lives in. Under his own name, his focus is sharpening toward thriller stories with a supernatural grimdark edge. Under the others, he lets himself go wherever the story wants.

Why He Started eBooks on Premium

After five years of writing and stepping into self-publishing, Kevin wanted a space that was fully his — one built to hold more than one kind of story. eBooks on Premium exists for two reasons: to give readers a central place to discover the full catalog and connect with the person behind it, and to build a direct relationship with the people who actually read the books — without handing a cut to a platform that had nothing to do with the writing.

That's also why the pen names exist. Grimdark and horror don't read the same as romance, and they shouldn't be marketed the same either — so each genre gets its own name, its own voice, and its own space to be exactly what it is. All of it still comes from the same place: Kevin, and eBooks on Premium.

Amazon has its place, and Kevin plans to keep publishing there as the catalog grows — under whichever name fits the story. But right now, this is home base. A young author-publisher building something on his own terms.

The store runs on a simple belief: readers deserve great fiction, and authors deserve a direct relationship with the people who read it. No algorithm deciding what you see. No retailer taking the lion's share. Just a writer and the readers who want what he's made — under however many names it takes to make it.

The Writing

Kevin writes across genres and across names. As Kevin Koelbl, grimdark fantasy and speculative fiction, sharpening toward thriller stories with a supernatural grimdark edge. Under other names — coming soon to the shelves — horror, romance, sports fiction, and contemporary fiction, each with its own voice and its own author identity.

His fiction is emotionally honest and rooted in truth no matter the world it's set in, or the name it's published under. Cinematic in scope, ambitious in execution — the kind of stories that feel like they were always meant to be told.

He's been writing for five years, started self-publishing one to two years ago, and is committed to a lifelong journey of getting better at the craft — in whatever name that craft happens to wear.
